Project Management

An effective Project Manager delivers the right result, on budget, at the right time. That accounts for three dimensions: requirements, cost, and time. The discipline of project management is about the skills, tools, and practices of making the journey from inception (the Project Charter) to close-out. It includes the additional dimensions of risk, quality, communications, and human resources at a minimum.

Methods for managing these seven dimensions are very well documented in the PMI PMBOK (Project Management Body of Knowledge). Like any methodology, it is a toolkit; it’s up to the practitioner to know what tools to use in what situation. This methodology has value in proportion to the experience of the PM. Bob Gailey, PMP has broad and deep experience defining, initiating, and managing projects in diverse settings.
